Family Pictures

Friends of mine set up a photo session for our family.  It was gifted to me in September but with Steve having surgery in October, we never got around to doing it.  Now that he’s in his last days, we knew we had to make it happen.  The photographer was kind enough to come to our house and work with us in taking some pictures. I dressed us all in blue for colon cancer.  And I love the results.  We will treasure these photos forever!

Steve is home and with Hospice…..

Well friends…..It’s with a very heavy heart that I have to write the post I never wanted to write, nor did I expect to be writing it anytime soon. Steve came home today with Hospice. Unfortunately the tumors in his lungs have spread more and have taken over about 80% of his lung capacity, which leaves him with about 20% to breath. The doctor doesn’t really know how much more time he has, but from the looks of how much of the cancer that has grown in his lungs over the past month, his guess is about 2 weeks give or take. He’s on oxygen and Morphine to help him be more comfortable. He’s happy to be home and in a place where he can…

Back in the hospital…..

I had to take Steve to the hospital today. His breathing hasn’t been very good and I just knew it needed to be addressed. I’m so glad we went because his oxygen level was VERY low. They did a CT scan to check for a new blood clot, but found nothing. There is a little fluid in his lung but the doctor thinks it’s old and doesn’t believe it is related to this. They did hear some crackling in one of his lungs so perhaps it’s a little collapsed but again, he didn’t think it would cause this much distress. There is some progression of disease in his lungs so it could be a combination of everything. They admitted him and have him on oxygen…

Halloween Bowling Party

I went for my bi-annual scrapbook weekend with Jodi today, even though Steve didn’t seem to pleased that I still went.  I just know that if I put it off any longer, it’ll never happen this fall and I really need the weekend away and with my bff Jodi.  He’ll be fine because my parents will be around to check on them and even cook dinner all weekend. The girls were invited to a bowling Halloween party so my mom took them.    I asked her to send me pictures because I felt bad I wouldn’t see them all dressed up.   Holly is wearing her Halloween costume for this year, but Allison is wearing something different, and I love what she has on! Don’t they look…

Radiation Starts Today

Steve starts radiation today.  He’ll have 10 treatments, Monday-Friday, to keep the tumors that they just removed in surgery, from growing back quickly and compress his spine again. He definitely doesn’t want to have that happen again. He had a CT Scan earlier this week to set up the radiation and the table he had to lay on was very hard so he was in a lot of pain afterwards.  It’s not the same pain as before the surgery but a different area and different type of pain.  But pain is pain. We’ve been spending all our time together since he can’t really go anywhere on his own.  It’s actually been pretty nice because it’s been quality time.  He seems more relaxed about the whole…
