Good bye Steve!!

This morning I did the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I said good bye to my husband Steve. He peacefully passed away at 6:20 am and is no longer suffering. His soul is free from cancer, so he won! Thank you all so much for your prayers, friendship and love over these past 2+ years. Steve’s Obituary

Saying Good Night to Daddy….

Since we became parents, Steve has always given the girls a good night hug in kiss once they were in bed.  It’s just something he always made sure he did.  It sounds trivial, but it was important to him to kiss them good night and remind them how much he loved them.  HE LOVED THEM SO MUCH! Tonight the girls said good night to daddy for the last time at home. Tomorrow Steve will be transferred to a Hospice Home where he can be cared for by people who can make him more comfortable than we can here. Mark and I tried our best but we are at a point where we need to hand it over to someone else. They will be giving him…

Family Pictures

Friends of mine set up a photo session for our family.  It was gifted to me in September but with Steve having surgery in October, we never got around to doing it.  Now that he’s in his last days, we knew we had to make it happen.  The photographer was kind enough to come to our house and work with us in taking some pictures. I dressed us all in blue for colon cancer.  And I love the results.  We will treasure these photos forever!

Steve is home and with Hospice…..

Well friends…..It’s with a very heavy heart that I have to write the post I never wanted to write, nor did I expect to be writing it anytime soon. Steve came home today with Hospice. Unfortunately the tumors in his lungs have spread more and have taken over about 80% of his lung capacity, which leaves him with about 20% to breath. The doctor doesn’t really know how much more time he has, but from the looks of how much of the cancer that has grown in his lungs over the past month, his guess is about 2 weeks give or take. He’s on oxygen and Morphine to help him be more comfortable. He’s happy to be home and in a place where he can…

Back in the hospital…..

I had to take Steve to the hospital today. His breathing hasn’t been very good and I just knew it needed to be addressed. I’m so glad we went because his oxygen level was VERY low. They did a CT scan to check for a new blood clot, but found nothing. There is a little fluid in his lung but the doctor thinks it’s old and doesn’t believe it is related to this. They did hear some crackling in one of his lungs so perhaps it’s a little collapsed but again, he didn’t think it would cause this much distress. There is some progression of disease in his lungs so it could be a combination of everything. They admitted him and have him on oxygen…
