Allison wants to learn everything Holly learns. When Holly was learning to do math in Kindergarten, Allison learned to do math. When Holly was learning to count by 5’s and 10’s. Allison learned. Allison then figured out how to count by 2’s just by the logic that it was every other number, no one taught her. Allison is smart, and hopefully will continue to enjoy learning new things as she gets older and won’t push school work aside for something else. Holly is in 2nd grade now and she is learning to write cursive and is loving it. Holly has very neat printing and her cursive is looking to be neat as well. She’s still working on it. I love coffee – most people that know me know I love coffee. Allison loves that I love coffee too. She relates the smell of coffee with me and it’s a comfort smell for her. It’s sort of cute! Recently I was drinking a cup of coffee and had a little left and it got cold so I didn’t want anymore. I asked Allison if she could put my cup on the counter for me. She asked if she could smell it first, something she loves doing almost every time I make a cup of coffee. I told her sure, just to be careful. She came back a few moments later and was giggling. We lived in southern RI/CT for about 12 years. We’ve been parents for about 8 years and we have driven by the Essex Steam train hundreds of times but we never took the girls on the train until this Spring. We knew we’d be moving further away and it would make it even more of a distance so we made sure we set aside some time while packing to take them. I’m glad we did – they loved it! It’s not the train to New York, which they really want to take with Mommy some day, but it was still a nice, fun train ride. It reminded me of when I was in 6th grade. Holly has been hesitant for a while about getting her ears pierced. But when she noticed her friend Katie had her ears pierced and had mickey mouse earrings, she decided she definitely wanted her’s done. We had to wait until the summertime because her dance recital was at the end of the school year and she can’t wear earrings during the recital. She was OK with this because that gave her time to digest the fact that she was going to do it. I am traveling for a bit this summer so in between my trips, Steve thought it would be a good idea to take Holly to have her ears pierced because she had mentioned a few times she really was ready to do…
