Good to be back…

It’s been a bit since I posted because I’ve been in the hospital. I had my gallbladder removed. Didn’t plan on that and I would of rather not have gone through it, but it happened, it’s gone and now I just need to give it some time to heal to get back to ‘normal’..whatever that might be.

For those of you that don’t know what happened…Here’s the story.

It started Friday night while I was taking a scrapbook class
at an LSS in CT. I thought it was gas pains and sat there and suffered for
2 hours because I didn’t want to leave the class. I did ask around for some Tums or something but no one had any. I finally left and stopped to get some medicine then drove myself home. Once I got home, Steve tried to help me relax but it was hard, I was in a LOT of pain and I just cried until it stopped. Of course I told him not to tell anyone how much of a baby I was being and here I am putting it on her, but I was in so much pain it was unbearable. About 30 mins after I got home it stopped but It lasted 3 hours total. So I figured it was just gas from the pizza with the hot peppers I had for dinner and decided I wouldn’t be having that again anytime soon.

Saturday I was fine and then Sunday we went to a fathers day breakfast with my inlaws. I had a little of everything but didn’t overdue it because I’ve been on a diet. But we all know how fattening breakfast foods are. Around 2pm I started feeling nauseas and then the pains started again. The pain was getting so bad that I was having trouble breathing….It was the worst pain ever, worse then childbirth. So we finally decided I had to go to the ER. My mom met us there to take Hollly and after a few hours they narrowed it down to my gallbladder. They gave me some great pain meds and sent me home and said to come back in the morning (monday) for an
ultrasound of my gallbladder and referred me to a surgeon. After the ultrasound they sent me over to see the surgeon immediately. About 5 mins after I got to his office, the pains started again. By the time I saw him I could hardly talk, sit, stand, walk etc. So he went over my tests, and then explained the surgery to me and sent me directly to the hospital to check
in. I had to have Steve come pick me up because I couldn’t drive I was in so much
pain. He scheduled he surgery for the next day at 11:30 am (tuesday) because I
was in so much pain he didn’t want to wait. The surgery was a success and I’m now gallbladder free. I was in a lot of pain afterwards but once they gave me more pain meds, everything was good. I was up and walking about 4 hours after surgery, it wasn’t easy but I was able to. I came home from the hospital yesterday (thursday) but I was still in a lot of pain…I had to double up on the pain meds last night because they weren’t working and now I feel much better, It’s a little difficult to get up and down then it was for my cesection, which I find kind of weird but hopefully every day will be better.

So that was my week..Hope yours was better!

Holly did great while I was gone. Both her grandma’s came to help out so Daddy could work (he’s very busy) and be with me when I needed him. She had a ball while I was gone, but defiantly looking forward to getting back to our normal schedule.

Slowly but we’ll get there.

  1. Hey honey, I’m glad to have been there for you…I wish I could have done more…Daddy & I are grateful that you are feeling stronger everyday! We both love you very much and don’t like to see you in pain….WHEW! That’s over with…now onto Holly. She was an absolute ANGEL. I LOVED SPENDING EXTRA TIME WITH HER, EVEN IF I HAD TO GET UP AT 5:30 AND THEN 6;30. For you, she sleeps till 7:30 – 8:00, not for her Grandmas. We loved every minute with Holly. Good job, Karen!

  2. **Wow, I’m so glad you’re feeling better. My girlfriend actually had her gallbladder taken out in H.S. so I know it’s very painful! Glad you’re back and in much better health. See you on the P.S. Boards!
