  • Pretty Dresses from Italy

    ByKaren July 9, 2012July 8, 2012

My mom went to Italy last month – alone!  I’m so proud of her.  She had a great time but was very homesick too, which  I figured she would be but I’m so glad she went because she has a lot of family there. She had fun shopping and bought the girls these really pretty dresses….. This picture was taken outside Allison’s school the day before her last day.  It was the best smile I was going to get!

  • Essex Steam Train

    ByKaren July 8, 2012

We lived in southern RI/CT for about 12 years.  We’ve been parents for about 8 years and we have driven by the Essex Steam train hundreds of times but we never took the girls on the train until this Spring.  We knew we’d be moving further away and it would make it even more of a distance so we made sure we set aside some time while packing to take them. I’m glad we did – they loved it! It’s not the train to New York, which they really want to take with Mommy some day, but it was still a nice, fun train ride. It reminded me of when I was in 6th grade.  Our end of the year treat was a ride on…

  • Mother’s Day 2012

    ByKaren May 22, 2012May 22, 2012

This year for Mother’s Day we did something different and I loved it.  It was very relaxed except for the part where my mom and I packed up about 6 boxes (we are moving in June!) but thaw was ok BECAUSE I’m super excited to be moving.  So packing boxes on Mother’s Day was something I wanted to do! But we had breakfast with both sets of parents, and the girls of course at the Westerly Yacht Club and it was delicious!  Then we just hung out at home, did a little packing and had a simple dinner of some burgers and hot dogs.  I don’t want to spend they day preparing, cooking and cleaning a big meal on Mother’s Day – so it was…

  • Kid’s Today and Technology

    ByKaren May 2, 2012

This is what we have come too.  It’s cute and sad all at once, don’t you think?  Of course this picture was posed because when they all get together they don’t play with their electronics but we thought it would be a cute picture to have to represent how the kids mimic their parents. Notice that Allison’s iPod has a case that matches her dress – well it doesn’t just match her dress, it matches everything that she loves in the world – ZEBRAS! This picture was taken at Allison’s 5th birthday party and I can not believe that 5 years has gone by already.  She’s getting so big and changing more and more everyday.  But she’ll always be my baby.  She was cuddling with…

  • Father Daughter Dance – 30 Years Ago

    ByKaren April 14, 2012

Holly was so excited to go to the Father Daughter dance this year and last year and Allison can’t wait to go next year.  It got me thinking of when I was little and went myself.   And then my mother gave me some old pictures and I found this picture!  I was so excited when I did. Those of you that know me, know that is not my father so let me explain.  My father doesn’t like LOUD music, never did and still doesn’t.  When I was little he took me to my first Father Daughter dance and he didn’t enjoy it as much as I did because the music was too loud.  So the following year he asked a family friend to take…
